If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’d go to Antarctica… No joke!

Why I (sorta) Hate ESPN 3

A message from ESPN to their fans:

Did you know that the Chicago Bulls have only scored while wearing shoes? Yet they shot 100% from the field without them (0/0). This even includes the Michael Jordan days.

How about the fact the Randy Moss is the only Viking player to ever have his picture taken while diving to catch the ball one-handed while wearing no. 84 on his jersey and attempting to catch a pass from Daunte Culpepper?

We here at ESPN love to provide you sports fans with stats. Important stats. Statistics that you can’t live your life without. We want to make sure you know the truth and when players really perform at a strong level and when they don’t. You can always count on us to deliver you the straight important statistics about games and players. Who cares about how many points a player has in the game, or who pitches a perfect game? We know you want the nitty-gritty, down to the basics important stuff. And we’re here to give it to you.

Here are some of the statistics we knew you needed to know within the last year.

(These are actual tweets of stats from ESPN or ESPN afflialtes)

  • CJ Watson was 0-3 on game-tying/game-winning shots w/10 sec or less left in 4th qtr/OT in his career before tonight
  • Anthony Davis: 6 pts, 16 reb, 5 ast, 6 blk, 3 stl; 1st player in NCAA Tournament history to reach those marks in a single game.

Now here are two quick examples.

As you all know CJ Watson is ESPN’s favorite player. Our staff absolutely adores him. We know you do too. We simply wanted to make sure you knew that statistic because we respect America’s admiration for Watson. It would be a shame if that went unnoticed.

Anthony Davis is the first to have those numbers, however Johnny “T-bone” Washington once scored 4 billion points, 79 rebounds, FOUR THOUSAND assists, 2 blocks, and 1,000 steals in a game. He often goes unnoticed though, because he was playing for a 16 seeded team, and no 16 seed has ever won an NCAA Tournament game. Coincidently, he’s the only player to score 4 billion points and have his team lose the game. You might ask, “Why do we care about Anthony Davis and not T-Bone Washington?” However, the answer is simple. We know everyone loves UK and if they didn’t have basketball, they probably wouldn’t even be a school. Plus winning is important to us, Johnny Washington lost the game, and we don’t think highly of losers.

Anyways, ESPN appreciates your time and would like to leave you with a couple of important sports statistics before you go.

  • Michael Vick is only the fourth player to wear number 7, play for the Falcons, get arrested for dog-fighting, comeback to play QB behind Donovan McNabb before beating out Kevin Klob for the starting position.
  • Michael Jordan became the only greatest player in basketball because he played in the 90s and he played for the Bulls while Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen were there too.
  • Adam Dunn is the first player to strike-out 3,000 times in his career, founding the 3,000-3,000 club. That’s 3,000 strike-outs and 3,000 ensuing broken bats.
  • Tiger Woods has now become the 10th player to ever be named Tiger Woods and go on to win golf tournaments while his blonde, foreign wife watched.
  • Allen Iverson is officially the only player to complain about practice on YouTube whilst wearing a tight fitting hat.
  • Paul Pierce is the only player EVER, EVER to score 2 points against the Atlanta Hawks at 2100 hours, 12 minutes, 37.386 seconds on Sunday, May 6th, 2012.
  • This past year Tim Tebow became the only player to win a football game as quarterback of the Denver Broncos, despite having a -15.8% completion rating, throwing for -34 yards, getting sacked +3 times.
  • Tim Duncan had the 20,968th 20-point game in NBA history this year. It is his 234th 20-point game for the Spurs.
  • Finally, Justin Verlander became only the second Detroit Tiger to strike out 27 players, walk 6, give up 2 runs on 19 hits in a night game on the road while the temperature hovered around 71 degrees across the span of 3 hours and 12 minutes.
I love going to the movies and I have pretty specific taste and strong opinions about them. Here’s my list of the top 5 movies you should see this summer. This was an article I compiled for TheCelebrityCafe. I’m going to tell you my list on here with some brief bullet points on why I want to see the movie. However, I urge you to go to my actual article as well. Which can be found right:

5. Bourne Legacy

  • Written and directed by Tony Gilroy, who wrote all the other Bourne movies and directed Michael Clayton.
  • Starring Jeremy Renner, who’s been in The Town, the latest Mission Impossible, and The Avengers. He’s a promising action actor.
  • It’s motha effing Jason Bourne. The best action franchise after the Die Hards.
  • Edward Norton is the second leading man.

Release Date: August 3rd

4.  Brave

  • Pixar is not going to make two bad movies in a row. Cars 2 has been their only badly reviewed movie… EVER.
  • The lore and story behind this looks very entertaining.
  • Who doesn’t love Pixar movies?

Release Date: June 22nd

3. Moonrise Kingdom

  • Wes Anderson has yet to make a bad film.
  • It has Ed Norton, Bruce Willis, and (obviously) Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman.
  • It’s Anderson’s return to live-action after the glorious Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Release Date: May 25th

2. Prometheus

  • Ridley Scott knows the horror/sci-fi genre well.
  • He’s done Blade Runner, Alien, and Gladiator.
  • Guy Peirce and Michael Fassenbender are both highly entertaining actors.
  • The previews are very intriguing and puzzling.

Release Date: June 8th

1. The Dark Knight Rises

  • It’s CHRISTOPHER NOLAN. Let me go on a little rant here. Everyone LOVES him now, after The Dark Knight and Inception. That pisses me off. I love Memento and Insomnia, and frankly all of his movies. He made his first movie Following for $6000 and in black-and-white. Most people who “love Chris Nolan” have never even heard of it, let alone SEEN IT. Christopher Nolan is my favorite screenwriter/director. He does both and he’s great at it. I DO LOVE Nolan and most of you don’t. So shut up. I want to see this movie way more than you. Plus I’m a bigger Batman fanatic than most. I have some comics and the whole animated series from the early 90s. Plus I became a fan of his series with Batman Begins. What’s that, you ask? Well it’s his first Batman movie, which most of you probably didn’t see at least until after The Dark Knight came out. I saw it in theaters and loved ti. Stop jumping aboard the Batman and Nolan bandwagon, because you don’t really know what you’re talking about.
  • Tom Hardy is sweet.
  • It’s BATMAN.
  • It’s the final movie and I guarantee this trilogy won’t end on a bad note.

Release Date: July 20th

Honorable Mention:

  • Looper (Rain Johnson)
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (Director of Wanted, so it should be entertaining. I was too lazy to get his name.)
  • The Campaign (I still love Will Ferrell)

Random Day, Random Things 8

Hello everybody! I’ve been absent from my blog for some time now. Once I got back from vacation I didn’t have much motivation for new material. I was writing articles for TheCelebrityCafe and Sportsrageous and I neglected my own readers! (Hi, Ben). Anyways, I hope to start back up shortly. I’ve had some ideas for posts, yet I never motivated myself to write them. SO, hopefully this post will start an avalanche of new material to come. If not, enjoy some Random Things. . .

Back from South Carolina!

Waddup all!?

I’m officially back from Myrtle Beach, SC and I’m here to share my vacation with you. I have pictures for you to see and updates for you to hear.

I had a very relaxing time on the beach and with my dad’s side of the family. There wasn’t many downsides to my trip, other than I couldn’t meet up with my long lost friend, Ben Harmelin. He stayed in Wilmington, NC, which as I found out, was only an hour and a half away from me. Some of you might know Ben from his blog. Speaking of, any updates coming, ole friend?

Aside from missing out on a fun time, I had a fun time and I have pictures to show you. But first I want to tell you a little about what I plan on doing now that I’m back.

I feel like this trip has helped me to get some things together. Such as:

  • Eating better.
  • Working out.
  • Applying for JOBS on JOBS on JOBS.
  • Waking up earlier.
  • Getting ready for summer?

I’ve been needing to be healthier for awhile and I’m very motivated now that I’m back from vacation. I’ve already gone grocery shopping, so I can stop eating fast food. I’ve bought a membership to a gym for $116.59, so I can work out for 6 months straight! I’ve been waking up before 11am each day, and many of you know this might be hard for me. Plus I’ve been getting in more applications for jobs. However, I’ve only been back for 3 days and summer is coming up. I hope to continue this streak of creating a healthier lifestyle for myself for months to come.

Anyways, enough of the boring stuff. I’m back home, back to the grind (easiest grind ever, am I right?!), and back to blogging. So without further ado, let’s look at some pictures from my trip!

P.S. All photos were taken from my Iphone 4s.

Friends, Womens, Country Fans, lend me your ears! (I’m 98% positive that’s a real saying) I will be departing tomorrow for Spring Break 2012 ROUND TWO! However, this time I will be headed south, way south. In fact, I will be going all the way from North Carolina (SB #1) to SOUTH Carolina; I’ve heard it’s quite a hike.

Anyways, I’m going to the infamous Myrtle Beach with my family minus my mother (I’ll miss you, mom!). I’ll be gone for about 6 days, from this Wednesday (4/4) to next Tuesday (4/not 4). We will be there with most of my dad’s side of the family, so it should be a good time!

Now if you guys aren’t familiar with Myrtle Beach, let me familiarize you. Let’s look at some facts:

  • Myrtle Beach is in north(ern) South Carolina, so essentially you get all the Carolina’s have to offer.
  • It’s the oldest vacation spot around. I mean, I’ve been going there since I was THREE. I know, crazy.
  • It has more miniature golf and putt putt courses than the moon.
  • Dr. Suess’ Yertle the Turtle was based off Myrtle Beach. They couldn’t use “Myrtle” because it was copyrighted by The Beach.
  • Both Moaning Myrtle (Harry Potter series) and Myrtle Wilson (The Great Gatsby) were born in AND named after Myrtle Beach.
  • Myrtle Beach is often abbreviated BAMF. This, obviously, stands for Best American Myrtle Foundation.
Those are the most commonly known facts about Myrtle Beach, and now that you’re caught up, I shall continue. . .

That said, I’m done.

In summary, I’m going on a family vacation to Myrtle Beach for about 6 days. It should be fun. I’ve been going there for awhile, so I know what to expect! I will post pictures from my trip, as I did after my famed return from Spring Break 2012 round one — North Carolina.

Finally, let me leave you with some pictures of BAMF.

IT’S BEEN TOO LONG! I’m sorry to all my die-hard fans, fans of the movie Die Hard that is. I will never fail you again. So in repayment, I present you with the sixth edition of: Random Day, Random Things.

P.S. This will most likely be foreshadowing a future post.

TV Recaps (3/29/2012)

Below are my recaps, okay, summaries, of 30 Rock and Community from Thursday night. Personally, I never read summaries of shows, I just re-watch them, but there’s a market so I’m writing them! The links will take you to my articles on TheCelebrityCafe. Underneath, I’ll go into some detail on the episodes strengths and weaknesses.

30 Rock Recap: Season 6, Episode 15 – ‘The Shower Principle’

  • Tracy Jordan – As always Tracy shines bright. Whether it’s him “playing” the news (like a video game) or signing on to “5nowdog5.” He’s always solid.
  • Hazel – Being a fan of Flight of the Conchords I’ve always liked Kristen Schaal. I think she’ll continue to be a great addition to the show.
  • Last Scene – Tell me that Jack Donaghy shooting rats in an abandoned warehouse is not hilarious. . .

  • Jenna’s Storyline – I’ve always thought that Jenna has been the weakest character on the show. This episode is no exception.
  • Lack of Kenneth – Even though I love Hazel, I feel Kenneth needs to be in the show more; there wasn’t a lot of him in this episode.

Community Recap: Season 3,Episode 13 – ‘Digital Exploration of Interior Design’

  • Vice Dean Laybourne – John Goodman hasn’t stared in many episodes, but he’s the best guest star they’ve had on the show. His story-line involving Troy and AC Repair School is subtly one of the best.
  • Pierce – He’s consistently the best character on the show.  . . Taking shots of ink. . . pretty funny.
  • Subway –  Since Scrubs I’ve always been a fan of “Keith.” He’s on Always Sunny too. I guess it was time for an episode of Community!
  • Annie – She’s distractingly attractive.

  • Troy and Abed – They’re usually the best part of the show. . . when they’re together. They go to war in this episode, so their usual banter wasn’t there.
  • Britta – I used to like her, but she’s becoming increasingly annoying. I could careless about her and her different romances.
